Restoration

Télesphore

Found on a flea market, this little bear is very damaged :
- The body is ripped in many ways
- Dirty and worn out fur.
- Damaged palms.
- The feet have disappeared, "socks" hide the holes.
- The nose is worn.
- The mouth is missing.

Steps of restoration

1- Original Télesphore

The bear has undergone several nasty repairs. All threads and pieces of fabric that are not original must be removed.

3- Body repair

With the body open, I discovered a broken noisemaker, an old model (a metal spring held by 2 cardboard discs in a rubber cylinder). A piece of newspaper is glued to hold the whistle. The text is in German.
It may be a STEIFF from the years 1900-1920
I couldn’t find another noisemaker. So I fixed this one as much as possible. It works… for the moment.
Lacks in body and limbs are filled with vegetable fibre.

4- The paws

A little cleaning of the fur before re-embroidering nose and mouth and there you have a bear that retains a charming little look.
