A first light cleaning reveals a mark on the back of the neck.
Remnant of an identification sticker?
It could be a HERMANN bear made around 1950.
All wires from previous repairs are removed to be properly redone.
This allaws the introduction of vegetable fibre to restore the volume and density in the lower body and upper arms.
After some research on the shapes and materials used for the HERMANNs of 1950, the missing palms are reconstituted in wool felt identical to the remains found.
The volume of the arms is completed. They regain their original length.
The upper thighs are torn.
You have to add vegetable fibre to restore the shape and close by a ladder point.
The feet are open and filled. It is necessary to reconstitute their shape and to put new soles with the same wool felt as that used for the palms.
The eye is removed and then reattached securely.
The ears were inserted and glued roughly.
The left ear has been placed front-behind and has an indelible stain.
A piece of fur recovered from the inside of the arm-seams hides the stain (appliqué technique).
The ears are repositioned, inserted and sewn in ladder stitch.
The truffle is embroidered horizontally following the traces of the old one.
Once the restoration is complete, the seams consolidated, the fur can be cleaned, dried and then brushed with a small curry comb.
