Restoration

Estelle’s teddy

Little soft toy from the early 80s which has been and remains very much loved.
It looks like the BOULGOM soft toys of those years.

Steps of restoration

1- The original teddy

1- The original teddy

The diagnosis is not very good. He suffered "savage" repairs that did not help his condition.

Numerous holes, snags and wear marks all over the body.

2- Damage

2- Damage

- The short, brown fur on jersey has been consolidated with a stiff, long-haired, light-colored fur, sewn with white thread.

The bear is too fragile to be cleaned. Everything must be dismantled and restored.
- The body is open at the seam line at the back.
- Deposit of cotton fiber and yellow fur.

4- The teddy, oups

That’s when I got a little scared, the head only olding on with a few badly damaged pieces of tissue.

5- Replacement fur

The strategy is to find a fur that will remain supple and whose color will merge with the original fabric.
Large-haired, but supple fur with an undercoat in shades similar to those of the bear will be clipped and a cutout will be placed and secured from the inside.

Fixed at small stitches, the new fur is cut back as close as possible

8- Muzzle of the teddy

White fur is applied to the inside of the muzzle to seal the snag.

Once consolidated, the bear is cleaned.
All that remains is to embroider a truffle of the same shape as th BOULGOM comforters of the 80s.
